Reviews & Tips to buy the best diet cookbook

It’s common to find people that search for info to buy a good cooking book.

If you try to do a search using Google and type “Mediterranean diet cookbook”, You’ll find more then 40.000 pages.

To help you save time I did a little search to compare the best rated books in the most popular websites.

At the end of the process I’ve classified them in base of their value. (Primarily based on people’s reviews)

Here the list of the top 3 Mediterranean diet cook books I’ve found.

Note: I didn’t consider the price because it’s time sensitive. [If a book is good I’d pay much more to read it.]

The sources I’ve used are:

  • Amazon.com, surely the best. It’s easy to search, compare and find what users think about the books.
  • Barnes&Noble.com, not so good as Amazon, has less reviews and a mediocre search system with no ratings.

I’ve based the review on 3 key elements:

  • Total n° of reviews
  • Total number of negative reviews
  • What people really write in the reviews

For each book I’ve chosen to post:

  • The table of contents
  • The presentation + the online preview
  • The summary of the reviews

At the end you can see the other books I’ve reviewed not in the top 3 list.

The winners of the contest

1° The Mediterranean Vegan Kitchen

In the book there is an extremely helpful “Meals in Minutes” section that offers menu suggestions that require an hour or less to be prepared.

There is also a nutritional information schedule for each dish. (Read the table of contents)

User reviews:

What I most enjoy about the book is its quintessentially Mediterranean nature: simple, fresh, uncomplicated, and absolutely delicious.

2° Mediterranean Diet Cookbook: A Delicious Alternative for Lifelong Health

Though many authors have tackled the healthful recipes of the Mediterranean, Jenkins is not simply following a fad.

She brings her understanding of the culture, gained through years of living and working in the region, to the task of writing a comprehensive cookbook.

Jenkins gives practical advice on how to gradually implement the Mediterranean diet at home: Eat more fruits, grains and vegetables; Reduce meat and fat intake; Cook with olive oil instead of butter and so on… (Continue reading the inside of the book)

User reviews:

First of all, as the author indicates, this type of cooking requires time and preparation. This is, after all, a part of Meterranean culture. I understand that. But it is not part of American culture.
