As Italian I’m a reader of the Beppe Grillo’s blog. This blogger is very famous because he attacks politics and things that don’t go well in Italy.

Last day i read a post where he wrote about the Marketing effects on children’s eating behaviors.

The results are incredible and don’t do good future prospectives.

In the study proposed by the University of Stanford, the researchers confirmed that children do their choose by focusing on marketing stimulations…

By providing the same chips, one lot in the branded container, the other without, young children prefer food if it is wrapped up in McDonald’s packaging :-(

In my last post I’ve talked about on how the Mc Donald’s communication strategy is focused on erroneous informations and that the source they cite are in contrast with what they promote…

For Beppe Grillo we are eating the advertising of the container.

All of these make me think that we are all sheeps conducted by the media…they start to hypnosis the future consumers (children) with tons of advertising…so they will be perfect consumers when big.

With the globalization of markets, in Italy we are loosing our traditional Mediterranean diet principles and children obesity is an increasing problem (more than 30% of children are obese)

It’s for these reason that the European community have developed a “Withe Book” about the main eating behaviors.

This paper is based on simple principles:

  • Better informed consumers
  • Making the healthy option available
  • Encouraging physical activity
  • Priority groups and settings
  • Developing the evidence base to support policy making
  • Developing monitoring systems

The food industry have to reformulate foods in terms of salt, fats, saturated fats, and sugars for consumers.

It’s amazing how to development has conduced us to be more fat people and the cost of these health diseases is very high…

My Granny lives following the principles of the Mediterranean diet and has 93 years…our generation have to re-discover these traditional behaviors if we don’t want to loos our healt.
