Junk Food Feduces the IQ of Children

A new British study stated that eating too many sweets and French fries cause detrimental effects on mental capacity

London – Children who are fed regularly with ‘junk food ‘ risk of suffering permanent damage to their mental capacity. As is apparent from a study conducted by the University of Bristol and published today by the Daily Mail.

Research has shown that children who eat French fries, cakes and pizza from three years to eight years are left with an IQ lower than their peers in early childhood that were fed with vegetables, fruit and home-cooked meals.

The findings revealed a gap of five points in the IQs of children who have always eaten healthy and those who were accustomed to foods from fast food.

Pauline Emmett, the chief scientist, said that despite improving the quality of food, for some of these children may be too late, because the harmful effects may be chronic, “Children who eat too many sugary foods have no enough vitamins, which means that their brain can not reach its optimal level.

A healthy diet early in life is essential because it is the period in which the brain grows faster. “
