4 Foods You Should Never Eat if You’re Trying to Shed Pounds

It’s no secret that the Mediterranean diet could help you lose up to 2 pounds of ugly fat a week and shrink your belly in a few short weeks.

That’s why you’ll absolutely love it and why we are so happy to share the newsletter below…enjoy!

1. Salty Foods

People are generally aware that consuming a lot of salt usually leads to high blood pressure. However, with high blood pressure, the arteries start hardening and narrowing, which makes the heart vulnerable.

Limiting your salt intake can do more than just reduce bloat, it can help you lose weight, according to researchers at the University of California.

They believe that excess salt triggers insulin production, which is responsible for converting sugar to fat.

Pepper can add flavor just as effectively, and the piperine in pepper could help you lose fat and reduce cholesterol.

2. Cold Cuts

A study conducted for the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics discovered that an average American consumes one sandwich a day.

Unfortunately, sanwiches are among the saltiest foods available. Not only is the bread and condiment responsible for the high salt content, but the cold cuts and cheese are also high in salt, with a presence of 250 mg sodium in every slice.

On an average, we all end up having three or four slices in one serving, which corresponds to a whopping 1,000 mg of sodium in one meal.

3. Salad Dressings, Condiments and Capers

Capers you have alongside Chicken Piccata have nearly 200 mg of salt for every tbsp. Even the ketchup you dip it in is high in salt.

Hint: Consuming dressings with vinegar before a meal containing carbs may also lower blood sugar spikes. Simply eat a salad with a vinegar-based dressing before lunch or dinner.

This is much more effective (and easy) than cutting massively on carbs.

Fill your salad dressing container with these ingredients and shake to combine all ingredients well:

1/3 container with balsamic wine vinegar
1/3 container with apple cider vinegar
1/3 container with (EVOO) extra virgin olive oil
Add a couple of Tsp of real maple syrup
Add a touch of dried onion and garlic, and black pepper

4. Beef Jerky

With multiple people adapting to the Paleo trend, jerky is becoming highly popular. Although it is rich in protein, it also has a high level of salt, which is not healthy for your heart and might lead to high blood pressure.

Even a small serving of jerky might have more salt than that found in over four packets of chips.
