How to Use the Mediterranean Meal Planner

The free meal planner makes it easy to shop for your healthy diet, and the chart lets you monitor your progress. The online tools make even family meal planning easier and faster, allowing you to prepare healthy meals for everyone without jeopardizing your weight loss program.
First, provide the data for your age and gender. In the upper left hand corner of the meal planner template, click on the arrow beside each label in turn and enter your information. This allows the program to calculate your daily caloric requirements.

Next, select the foods you want to have for each meal (breakfast, snack, lunch, and dinner) by clicking on the drop down box labeled “Foods” and then clicking on the check box beside each food. You will notice that each food shows its portion size in ounces and its relative amount of calories. Once you have chosen your preferred menu, you will receive a total calorie count for the day.

The meal planner software will then compare your total calories based on your selections to the calories you need for weight loss. The total will be shown in green if your selections are less than or equal to your requirements, and red if you have selected more food than required. If you have entered too many calories into the daily meal planner, you will have the opportunity to adjust your selections to bring the totals into balance. Proceed to the “Print Menu” page and print it out so you can write up your own daily menu.

The dietary meal planner already contains the most common Mediterranean diet foods. To add your favorite foods to the meal planner database, go to the “Food Data” page. Enter the foods, using ounces for the quantity, to see the associated calorie count.
Once the initial ounce to calorie ratio has been established, you can change the quantity and the meal planner tool will automatically revise the calories. You can even enter your favorite recipes by merely adding the individual ingredients and then selecting them when you add the dish to your daily meal planner.
The meal planner app also lets you track your progress. Simply go to the “Graph” page and enter your daily weight and calorie intake in the online worksheet. The lines on the graph will change to reflect your most recent progress.

I would like to download free meal planner
I have been trying to download the free Daily Meal Planner Software and I cannot seem to be able to do so.

What’s your MS Excel Version?
It should work in MS Excel 2007
Thanks for the great information! I am trying to use the meal planner with my MAC. I have Microsoft Office for home 2008 which has Excel. It is only allowing a “read only” copy of the Meal Planner. Is there anything else that I can use or download?
I’m sorry for this…it’s due to excel 2007 (I guess).
We are going to plan/partner a new meal planner with more features…stay tuned.
