Summary: Sometimes you may find yourself with a craving for a sweet, satisfying dessert, but don’t want a lot of sugar and calories. One great idea to try is this dessert featuring Greek yogurt generously topped with luscious strawberries and drizzled with golden honey. You only need a few simple things to start:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt
  • 4 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 dozen strawberries, washed and chopped into chunks
  • 1 ounce of any nuts of your choice, raw or toasted
  • 4 dessert or ice cream bowls

Instructions

  1. Once you have your ingredients together, dish out two ounces of the Greek yogurt into each of the bowls.
  2. Sprinkle the chopped strawberries on top, drizzle honey over them and finish with the nuts.

Quick notes

Health Benefits of Strawberries

Strawberries are a fruit that offers many health benefits. They boast some of the highest antioxidant content among fruits and vegetables, with only walnuts and blackberries being superior per serving. Strawberries also contain considerable amounts of protein and water, both of which can help keep you full longer and decrease your overall caloric consumption.

Furthermore, research shows that they can be an excellent tool for blood sugar management. In fact, eating strawberries along with sugary foods prevents harmful blood sugar spikes.

Health Benefits of Yogurt

Being a fermented food, yogurt is naturally rich in beneficial gut bacteria. All living things require these bacteria, called probiotics, to facilitate proper digestion, nutrient absorption, immune function and control of harmful bacteria and yeasts.

Besides the calcium, healthy fat and protein supplied by the milk, the fermentation process creates more nutrients such as B vitamins and vitamin K2. It is also an excellent source of highly bioavailable magnesium, which plays critical roles in heart health, neurological function, movement and the structural integrity of bones.
