Eating Mediterranean foods can help you
The flue and cold period is arriving. For those of you don’t believe in the vaccine or other medicines, here a list of useful Mediterranean diet foods that help prevent this diseases.
I think that everybody of us know that to prevent flue and colds you should:
- Drink plenty of liquids. Water and fruit juice
- Eat Garlic that contains an agent called alliin which acts as a decongestant.
- Drink a lot of Lemon juice and Red Orange juice to increase your vitamin C intake.
- Eat foods full of Vitamin C like Citrus fruits, Potatoes, green peppers and strawberries.
- Eat honey to stop cough
Here the foods to not eat with fever:
- High-fat
- High-sugar junk foods
- Skipped meals
- Lot of caffeine
- Dairy products
- Excess salt
Other to these well known rules I’d like to suggest you some foods and plants typical of the Mediterranean region that could help you prevent and defeat fever, cold, Bronchitis, Cough and Sore throat.

Artichoke

The plant has numerous properties against fever. It is used by an infusion of leaves (10 gr. Each liter of water). Drink a cup before meals. The plant is also indicated in the treatment of cholesterol and liver disease.

Beech

Garlic

Famous are his benefits as antiseptic and it is very effective in preventing rheumatic pain, bronchitis, fever and intestinal worms. Against the catarrh from smoke: Boil 400 ml. Of Milk with 4 cloves of garlic and filter. Sweeten with honey. Use: Two cups a day, morning and evening.

Lemon

Bronchitis
Ingredients:
- 10 gr. Melissa leaf
- 20 gr. In Eucalyptus leaves
- 20 gr. Malva in leaves and flowers
Preparation: Far rest of the ingredients for 15 minutes in a liter of water boiling. After filter. Consume two cups per day meal.
Flue
Ingredients:
- 10 gr. Thyme
- 10 gr. Eucalyptus
- 10 gr. The borage
- 10 gr. Linden
Preparation: Mix all ingredients. Boil a spoon, mix in 250 ml. Water for 10 minutes. Consume 3 cups per day meal.
Cold
Ingredients:
- 10 gr. Linden
- 10 gr. Elderberries
- 20 gr. Laurel
- 10 gr. Sage
Preparation: Mix all ingredients. Boil 10 gr. To mix in 250 ml. Water for 2-3 minutes. Consume a cup lukewarm half hour before going to bed with a spoonful of honey.
Cough
Ingredients:
- 20 gr. Eucalyptus
- 20 gr. The green anise
- 5 gr. Poppy
- 10 gr. Liquorice
Preparation: Mix all ingredients. Boil a teaspoon of the mix for 5 minutes in 250 ml. Water. Let rest for 10 minutes. Drink 2 cups per day with a tablespoon of honey.
