Most people confuse the Mediterranean diet as a dietary pattern used only to loose weight. It’s not 100% exactly. There thousand of reasons to decide to follow this diet…mainly for healthy reasons.
Weight loss is only a consequence of eating healthy.
There 2 main goal to reach:
- Patience
- Consistence
Here a list of useful resources I’ve found this week on the effects of the Mediterranean diet and children, myocardial infarction and prostate cancer.
- Modified Mediterranean diet and survival after myocardial infarction: the EPIC-Elderly study – Mediterranean diet is associated with lower incidence of coronary heart disease, and two randomised trials indicated that it improves prognosis of coronary patients.
- How Much Weight Can I Lose On The Mediterranean Diet? – While many people have lost many pounds on the Mediterranean diet, weight loss is not the primary benefit. The main advantage of eating a diet modeled after that of the cultures living in the Mediterranean Basin is the improvement in health that’s very possible. These people have a low occurrence of chronic diseases and high life expectancy rates. The fact that it’s also possible to lose weight by eating this way should be looked upon as a nice side benefit.
- Cancer Proof Your Prostate – Here’s a good reason why Western European men have lower prostate-cancer rates than U.S do. New research suggests that certain staples of the Mediterranean diet contain prostate cancer- fighting properties.
- You Are What Your Mother Ate – Instead of low-carb/high-protein diets, Reynolds urges women of child-bearing age to strive for a balanced diet. This is supported by a recent study out of Spain, published in the February 2007 issue of Clinical Endocrinology, in which women who chose a dietary pattern closer to the Mediterranean diet (which emphasizes fruits, vegetables, nuts, olive oil, chicken, and seafood) showed lower levels of HPA axis disturbance.

Food is the essential thing in everyone’s life. Some Foods will make you fit and some foods will make you fat.
Meats and beans are good source of essential proteins required for your body, but they contain high saturated fats and more number of carbohydrates in them.
